Enrique and Carlos Contreras are pleased to announce the formation of the first Mexican team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), Contreras Motorsports. Contreras Motorsports LLC began as a vision that Enrique and Carlos had, both of whom are recognized as pioneers in the Hispanic world of NASCAR, who now bring the legacy of the Mexican race-winning team of the early 90’s to the sport. The team will be the first of its’ kind in one of NASCAR’s top-tier series, as the only Hispanic owned NCWTS team. Contreras Motorsports will be based in Mooresville, N.C., area of great importance to NASCAR. Crew Chief Tim Andrews, son of crew chief champion, Paul Andrews, will lead the talented young crew on their inaugural season. The team will be running trucks that are prepared for different tracks that the series visits throughout the season, with the purpose of providing opportunities for up-and-coming drivers looking to break into NASCAR.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mooresville, NC (June 16, 2014) - NASCAR's first Hispanic driver, Carlos Contreras, will be behind the wheel of the No. 44 TriStar Motorsports Toyota Camry for the road course races on the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule.
“I am extremely excited to be taking this new step with my brother (Enrique) as team owners in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series,” Carlos said. “My brother and I have worked with many great people and teams over the many years we’ve been in NASCAR, and the many more years racing with my brother in Mexico and Latin America. We know it’s a process, and we are working to build an organization that will be competitive for many years to come. Bringing in the young and talented Tim Andrews was definitely a great start,” he added. “Competing on behalf of Hispanics within the NCWTS is a new challenge in my life and it is a great opportunity to share it with my family. I will be giving it my best in this new project of ours,' Enrique Contreras, president of the team said. The first race of the team will be on Feb.19 at the newly renovated Daytona International Speedway. Carlos Contreras, who has more than 100 NASCAR starts and six Daytona appearances, will be driving the Chevy Silverado no. 71 at the Nextera Energy Resources 250. Bellator MMA, a leading mixed martial arts promoter founded in 2008, will sponsor the Chevy Silverado #71, promoting #Bellator149 which will take place on Feb.
